On this spiritual path, you may feel the call to know thy self, but knowing requires presence. Before you can understand who you are, you must be willing to sit with yourself and connect with her deeply, honestly, and sincerely.
Self-worship is born in that moment of presence. It’s not just about rituals and affirmations, it’s about relationship. And every relationship begins with connection.
You may remember me saying something similar about self-trust, because it’s true for both. They are sisters, each guiding you back to your center.
What is Self-Connection:
Self-connection is the practice of tuning into your inner world, your thoughts, feelings, needs, and desires.
It’s the moment when stress and anxiety rise, but instead of pushing through, you pause. You place your hands on your heart and ask, “What do I need to calm myself right now?”
Through self-connection, you develop a relationship with yourself, one that is grounded in self-trust, self-love, and self-acceptance.
It’s smiling at your reflection in the window, even when your hair is messy and your eyes are puffy. No judgment. Just self-appreciation.
This connection with yourself helps you tap into your intuition, embrace your authentic self, and honor your needs and desires.
Like when the server brings your steak and it’s too pink, you honor yourself and send it back even though you’ve been taught “not to be a bother.”
Disconnection…The Quiet Drift Away
Sending your steak back may seem like a little thing… but it’s not.
So many women quietly push their needs, feelings, wants and desires to the side so they don’t make waves. But every time you go against yourself to please someone else you disconnect from yourself.
Imagine standing side by side with your inner self… this beautiful, radiant light.
A friend invites you out for drinks, you say yes even though you don’t want to go.
Energetically, it’s like you took a giant step away from your inner self… leaving her behind, just to keep someone else comfortable.
Over time, these small steps away from self begin to add up.
Signs You’re Disconnected from Yourself
- You feel tears rising, but you tighten your body and hold your breath instead of letting them flow.
- You say yes to brunch with your sister, even though your body is begging to sleep in.
- You’re craving fries, but you choose the side salad so the kitchen doesn’t have to turn the fryer back on.
- Your intuition whispers take the back street, but you jump on the highway anyway and end up stuck in traffic.
- You have a brilliant marketing idea, but when it’s your turn to speak, you shrink and pass.
These are just some of the quiet ways we step away from ourselves. Each time we override our truth, we take another step further from our center, diminishing the connection that keeps us grounded, intuitive, and whole…our feminine soul.
If you tend to do this often, you’re not broken. You’re human. We’ve all done it. No one taught us how to care for our soul through self-worship. No one showed us that honoring ourselves is sacred.
But the good news is you’re here. You’re ready to learn, to grow, and to repair the sacred bond between you and your inner self.
Ways to enhance self-connection:
- Intentional breathing can help calm the mind and bring awareness to the body.
- Gentle stretches, yoga, or simply placing a hand on your heart and belly allows for a deeper connection to how your body feels in the present moment.
- Talking to yourself with compassion and kindness and letting go of judgment.
- Self-expression through art, dancing, music or another creative outlet.
- Visualizing and connecting with your inner child or your future self creates a stronger inner bond.
- Looking in the mirror and speaking affirming words over yourself.
Self-Connection as a Daily Practice
Self-connection is not a one-time event; it’s a daily devotion. It’s how you return to yourself in the quiet moments.
Every time you pause to listen… Every time you honor a need… Every time you choose yourself, you strengthen the sacred bond within.
Remember, you don’t have to do it perfectly. You just have to keep coming back to yourself.
